HOW TO BUY CHEAP APPLIANCES:
HIGH QUALITY, LOW PRICES

Purchasing new, discounted, cheap appliances can really enhance
your life. But, appliances are a real investment because you will have them for a long time. As a result, you should do significant research to ensure that you get good value and good quality. They make life more efficient, and make your home look updated and more attractive. You may think that New York City is an impossible place in which to find and purchase cheap appliances. But, nothing could be further from the truth! Don't worry--I've done the work for you.

GREAT TIPS FOR BUYING
CHEAP APPLIANCES:

  • Once you find the desired appliance, check out the quality at www.consumerreports.com. They do significant testing and will alert you about the quality of the appliance that you are considering.

  • Gas appliances may be more expensive than electric models, but consider that they generally require less energy. Additionally, serious cook will tell you that gas cooks food more evenly, allows you greater control of heat, and produces better results.

  • Many appliance stores will negotiate prices especially if you are buying several items. In addition, you can often negotiate warranty, guarantees and free delivery. Don’t be shy, they aren’t.

  • A few dings and scratches can really bring down the price of a floor model. Be open minded.

  • Save energy, time, and gas by comparing products through BizRate, com or Krillion.com, comparison sites that list brand-name products, general price ranges, and where to buy them, online and retail.

  • There are three big holiday weekends during which to buy appliances, Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day. You’ll find slashed prices, attractive discounts, and often free delivery will be thrown in.

  • When you’ve made your selection, Home Depot and Lowe's will match competitor prices.

You’ll find items from every price point and to suit just about every decor. Drimmer’s website says that it “monitors its competitor’s prices on a daily basis to insure that Drimmers.com is always giving you the lowest possible price. We live up to our slogan "committed to giving you the lowest possible price." We purchased our refrigerator, range, and dishwasher here. Our salesperson was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about ALL leading brands and best prices around. As it turned out, Maytag was offering a great price and super rebate if you purchased all 3 appliances. I definitely shopped around (hey, look who is writing this!:>) and found that they gave the best price by far and threw in free delivery. I would recommend shopping around for what you want and then calling them for the best prices. New York Magazine rates Drimmers as "The best place to buy kitchen appliances."

    MANUFACTURER OUTLET STORES

A fantastic source for high end but very cheap appliances is major manufacturers’outlet stores. These stores showcase overstock, discontinued, returned, and floor models. Many offer free home delivery and provide standard factory warranty on all appliances. A friend found a closeout model of a GE Profile king-sized washer, which normally sold for $769, but found it the GE outlet store for $200 less. You’ll find that new models are added to the inventory daily.

G.E. Outlet Stores Sears Outlets A Sears Outlet is an deal place to find a brand new appliance at very cheap prices. Sears outlet centers feature returned or slightly damaged (scratches) merchandise and you can save from 15 to 50 percent off the original retail price.

    REUSED LUXURY

Here’s a fantastic find. Seek house parts recycling centers in
high end areas. You’ll find high-end appliances such as from the likes of Viking and Sub-Zero? Why? When the very rich purchase a house, they often redo the kitchen and baths, often replacing fantastic appliances that the previous owner just installed. These places are virtual treasure troves of cheap appliances that are top name and in mint condition.

This is a mix between a thrift shop and a huge warehouse of home remodeling materials. You just won't believe what you'll find here! What is a restore? It's a store where builders and contractors bring their extra items from construction projects, and where people donate their used appliances and other goodies. My friend Barbara bought a Sub-Zero refrigerator for a mere $530! These cost a virtual fortune in retail stores. Yes, you'll find a lot of junk. But if you a smart shopper, you'll sift through it until you find your diamond in the ruff. It's worth the look. Click on the link above for the store closest to you.
