NEW YEARS EVE IN NYC CONCERT AT ST. JOHN’S

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine

The Cathedral Church of St John the Divine will be holding its annual New Year’s Eve Concert for Peace from 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A limited number of general admission seats are FREE and open to the public on a first-come, first served based.  Ticket seating is also available starting at $40.

Enjoy partaking in the traditional passing of candle flames at 11:00 pm and see more than 1,000 candles illuminate the church. Splendid.

This year’s concert includes Handel’s Water Music, Suite No. 3. The choir joins with a moving set of contemporary pieces, including the U.S. premiere of See the Wretched Strangers by Lucas Wiegerink, and excerpts from Bernstein’s Mass in celebration of his centennial year. Artists in Residence Jason Robert Brown and Judy Collins make their own musical offerings, and the evening concludes with Joseph Haydn’s Te Deum, to welcome the new year with affirmation and joy.

 NEW YEAR’S EVE BIKE (OR SKATES) RIDE AND AFTER PARTY

Making a New Year’s fitness resolution? Join the Annual New Year’s Eve Bike Ride. You can forget your bike and roller skate too. Meet at 10pm at Washington Square Park, under the arch. Start the year off right -- on your bike or skates! Come celebrate New Year's Eve in the great outdoors.

The group be riding up to Belvedere Castle in the middle of Central Park for the best (and free!) New Year's Eve dance party in town with fireworks! Dress festively--don't forget your noisemakers and party favors--and bring food and drink to share! If you don't want to do the ride, you can just meet everyone  at 11:45pm at Belvedere Castle.
