What is The Ride New York City? It's a 75-minute VERY interactive show and tour of a few areas of Manhattan (you choose) in a specially-designed bus. Buses have floor-to-ceiling windows and stadium-style seats--you can see from any seat. So, you don't have to worry about arriving early to snag the best seats.
The tours are completely narrated by professional actors and actresses (I'm just guessing that they are) and are complimented by lots of LCD TVs and surround sound. Along the route, you'll enjoy stationed live actors, dancers, and the like, on the street. The bus travels over 4 miles throughout Manhattan and you'll learn about NYC's history, landmarks, and culture.
The Ride New York City is definitely extremely interactive as you'll get to participate in karaoke, trivia games, and more. I won't lie, it's a tad cheesie (and lots of fun), but everyone on my bus absolutely loved it and went crazy! No joke!
There are four versions of this attraction including The Ride New York CIty, The Tour, The Downtown Experience, and Queen of the Ride. Often there are special versions for holidays and the like.
The Tour is suitable for all ages and spans both midtown Manhattan and alittle of the Upper West side. This is a more "traditional" educational sightseeing experience, but also fun.
The Downtown Experience offers the same multimedia, 90 minute type of experience while exploring Downtown Manhattan's famous landmarks and neighborhoods. The difference here is that they use "Timelooper," a virtual reality experience that allows you to travel back in time and see significant moments in history. The Downtown Experience's box office is located at Pier 15, 78 South Street – Inside Hornblower Cruises & Events.
Queen of the Ride is an adult party bus traveling through Manhattan with live street performers with a complimentary bar on board, offers the same stadium-style seating, superior audio, and 40 video screens. A wild drag host will guide you through the ride. Queen of the Ride is available on the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 ppm and 11:30 pm.
Lastly, there is a Masquerade edition in October (Halloween), and a Holiday Edition for Christmas (November 16-January 11).
I recommend buying tickets from the 3 places listed under "Discounts." However, you can purchase tickets at the Box Office at 584 8th Avenue between 38th and 39th Street (across the street from the Holiday Inn), a few blocks South of 42nd Street. Box office hours are 9:00 am - 9:00 pm. Or you can purchase them online at ExperienceTheRide.com.
